Vallaki sits cradled in a low valley where the road from the Svalich Woods widens into a broad, mud-stitched plain. From a distance it looks defensible: a stout wooden palisade crowns the ridge, watch-towers punctuate the wall, and the town’s clustered roofs tumble down toward a central square.
